Restore message from the Trash Bin

Once you delete the email, it's automatically transferred to the Recycle Bin. This recovery method is only suitable for emails that have been in your Trash bin for less than 30 days. After 30 days, emails are automatically deleted (these are Gmail settings and cannot be changed).

Here are a few simple steps to restore an email from the Trash:

  1. Click the More button on the left of the label list.
    Gmail - 'More' button
  2. Click the Trash button in the list of labels.
    Gmail - trash label
  3. Find the deleted email and click on it.
  4. Press the Move to button in the activity panel.
  5. Select Inbox (or any other label in which you would like to see this email).
Gmail - Move email to Inbox button

Alas, the letter was deleted, and further cleared from the Trash can not be recovered. Gmail does not store any copies of emails :(

The only option is to ask the person who sent this email before to forward it to you again. Whatever happens in the future, we strongly recommend you not to delete the mail, but to archive it (if there is even a slight chance that you might need it in the future). You can see how to use the Archive in our article Archived emails in Gmail.
