Set Preview as Default for PDF Files

When you open a PDF file, it’s usually done with the Adobe Reader program. But, there’s a better way to view your PDFs. You can set the PDF preview as your default file viewer. This will make it so that whenever you open or double-click a PDF file, it will open in a preview window.

Step 1: Install the Preview App

The first step is to install the Preview app. This is a free app that comes with all Mac computers. To install it, simply go to the App Store and search for “Preview”. Once you find the app, click “Install” and it will be installed on your machine.

Step 2: Open a PDF File

Once the Preview app is installed, you can open any PDF file. To do this, simply double-click on the PDF file. This will open the file in the Preview app.

Step 3: Set Preview as the Default PDF Viewer

Now that you’ve opened a PDF file with the Preview app, the next step is to set it as the default PDF viewer. To do this, go to the “File” menu and select “Preferences”. In the Preferences window, go to the “General” tab and select “Set Preview as Default for PDF Files”.

Step 4: Save Your Changes

Once you’ve selected “Set Preview as Default for PDF Files”, you need to save your changes. To do this, simply click the “Save” button at the bottom of the window.

Step 5: Test it Out

The last step is to test out your new default PDF viewer. To do this, simply open a PDF file by double-clicking on it. The file should now open in the Preview app.
