How to Install Windows 8.1 Without a Product Key

Installing Windows 8.1 doesn't have to be complicated - learn how to do it without a product key for a hassle-free installation!

How to Install Windows 8.1 Without a Product Key

Step 1: Download Windows 8.1

The first step to installing Windows 8.1 without a product key is to download the installation file. You can do this by visiting the Microsoft website and selecting the “Download” option. This will take you to a page where you can select the version of Windows 8.1 that you want to download. Once you have chosen the version you want, click the “Download” button.

Step 2: Prepare a USB Drive

Once the download is complete, you need to prepare a USB drive for the installation. You will need to have a USB drive with at least 4 GB of free space. Once you have the USB drive, you need to format it using Disk Management. To do this, press the Windows key, type “diskmgmt.msc” and press Enter. Once the Disk Management window opens, select the USB drive and format it using the NTFS file system.

Step 3: Copy the Installation Files

Once the USB drive is prepared, you need to copy the Windows 8.1 installation files to it. To do this, open the folder where you downloaded the Windows 8.1 installation file and select the “Setup.exe” file. Right-click on it and select “Copy”. Now open the USB drive and right-click in the window and select “Paste”. This will start copying the installation files to the USB drive.

Step 4: Boot From the USB Drive

Once the files have been copied to the USB drive, you can boot from it. To do this, insert the USB drive into your computer and restart it. When the computer restarts, you will need to press a key to enter the BIOS setup. The key to press will vary depending on your computer's manufacturer, but it is usually F2, F10, or ESC. Once you are in the BIOS setup, select the option to boot from the USB drive.

Step 5: Install Windows 8.1

Once the computer has booted from the USB drive, you will be presented with the Windows 8.1 installation screen. Select the “Install Now” option and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. During the installation, you will be asked to enter a product key. You can simply leave this field blank and click “Next” to continue the installation.

Step 6: Activate Windows 8.1

Once the installation is complete, Windows 8.1 will not be activated. To activate it, you will need to open the “Control Panel” and select “System and Security”. Under the “System” section, select “Activate Windows” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation.

Step 7: Enjoy Windows 8.1

Once Windows 8.1 is successfully installed and activated, you can start using it. You will now be able to use all of the features that Windows 8.1 has to offer without needing to enter a product key. Enjoy your new operating system!
