Troubleshooting the 'Getting Windows Ready' Stuck Issue

Are you facing the issue of ‘Getting Windows Ready’ stuck? You’re not alone. There are many users out there who have encountered the same problem. It’s frustrating when you’re stuck in an endless loop of ‘Getting Windows Ready’.

When this happens, the user is unable to access their computer, as the ‘Getting Windows Ready’ screen is stuck in an infinite loop and will not finish loading. Fortunately, there are a few steps that can be taken to troubleshoot this issue and get your computer up and running again.

Step 1: Check Windows Updates

The first step is to check the Windows Updates. This can be done by pressing the ‘Windows’ key + ‘I’, then clicking ‘Update & Security’. Under the ‘Windows Update’ section, you can check for any pending updates that need to be installed. If there are any pending updates, install them and then restart your computer to see if it resolves the issue.

Step 2: Run a System File Checker

System File Checker (SFC) is a utility in Windows that helps to repair corrupted system files. It can be used to scan and repair any corrupted system files on your computer. To run SFC, open a Command Prompt window as an administrator and type in the following command: “sfc /scannow”. This will scan your system for any corrupted files and attempt to repair them.

Step 3: Run a System Restore

If SFC does not resolve the issue, then you can try running a System Restore. System Restore is a feature in Windows that allows you to restore your computer to a previous state, before the ‘Getting Windows Ready’ issue occurred. To run System Restore, open a Command Prompt window as an administrator and type in the following command: “rstrui.exe”. This will open the System Restore window, where you can select a date and time to restore your computer to.

Step 4: Run a Clean Boot

If you’re still having issues, you can try running a Clean Boot. This is a process that starts Windows in a minimal state, with only essential services and processes running. This allows you to eliminate any third-party applications or services that may be causing the issue. To run a Clean Boot, open a Command Prompt window as an administrator and type in the following command: “msconfig.exe”. This will open the System Configuration window, where you can choose to start Windows in a Clean Boot state.

Step 5: Reset Windows

If all else fails, you can try resetting Windows. This is a process that will restore your computer to its original state. It will erase all your personal files and settings, so it is recommended that you back up any important files before proceeding. To reset Windows, open a Command Prompt window as an administrator and type in the following command: “reset.exe”. This will open the Reset This PC window, where you can choose to reset your PC completely.

These are the steps that can be taken to troubleshoot the ‘Getting Windows Ready’ stuck issue. If you’re still having issues, then it may be best to contact a professional technician for further assistance. With these steps, you can get your computer up and running again.
